How conversion works in Konverto

After you select an output, the application creates an asynchronous job. A Celery worker invokes the preferred engine with an argument list rather than concatenating an unsafe shell command.

The job moves through queued, processing, completed, failed, or cancelled states. Engines that expose genuine progress can update the interface; other conversions display an indeterminate processing state rather than a fabricated percentage. Temporary files are isolated and scheduled for cleanup. Quality, fidelity, and possible data loss

Every conversion from TTF involves a mapping between two technical models. Features available in the source may have no equivalent in the destination. Possible differences include compression artifacts, changed color or numeric precision, flattened layers, missing fonts, altered layout, discarded metadata, unsupported animation, reduced editability, or changes to embedded resources. A smaller output is not automatically better if essential information was removed.

Security and privacy considerations

A TTF upload is treated as potentially hostile. Konverto enforces configurable size limits, sanitized names, isolated temporary directories, timeouts, resource checks, content detection, and malware scanning when ClamAV is enabled. Archive-like inputs receive additional checks for traversal paths, links, excessive expansion, suspicious compression ratios, and excessive file counts.

Files are processed on the self-hosted server rather than being sent to an unrelated online conversion provider. That architecture can reduce external exposure, but server administrators still need appropriate access controls, retention settings, backups, operating-system updates, and monitoring. Sensitive content should be downloaded promptly and removed according to the organization’s data-handling policy. Error logs avoid storing the actual contents of uploaded files.
